Hey guys!
I’m 13 years old and found out about this site through reddit.
My problem with portugal is its education system.
We currently have the Espiral 8 manual for maths and the Experimenta manual for physics-chemistry.
The problem is that STEM subjects are explained to kids like they’re 7-8 years old while they are 13 and should be able to understand basic concepts without the teacher having to repeat herself / himself 4 times, for example, we have just started learning about equations in 6th grade! That is atrocious, I learned them in the 3rd grade in Ukraine, and 7th grade was practically nothing new just the same 6th grade program + functions, now in 8th grade I’m not really sure what exactly we will have but looking at the manual index, things are looking dire, learning about monomials and binomials in 8th grade? Ridiculous!
The second part of the problem is that both physics and chemistry are combined into the same subject while they’re innately different, our school also gave out only 1h30m PER WEEK, that is RIDICULOUS! I am genuinely wasting my time over there at school, I practically slept through half the lessons on all subject and got eight 5s three 4s and one 3 in arts.
This kind of is my rant, I’m out!
