First of all, I very appreciate the person who made this collab to address overwhelming Portugal’s issues. The second, I love Portugal and wish I could see how it’s getting better.
My story:
In 2019, I was relocated from Eastern Europe. I had nothing bad to say related to my residence process, because my company helped with the paperwork and documents, and I was very lucky.
But in Covid times and during the current bloody UA/RU war, the situation with legalization bureaucracy has gone extremely bad:
1. Shadow ban for Golden Visas investors from UA/RU/BY. People who invested a huge amount of honest and legal money into the country became third-class people. It’s such unfair to get money today and kick the investor tomorrow.
2. A long queue of people in AIMA/SEF already, and the blocked assignment process at all. People have been locked down in the country for years without any legal progress. That’s insane.
3. AIMA has cancelled the auto-renewal process for some reason. It’s the only thing that was somehow working online. There are some rumors related to a crime fellow who abused this system, but why should other people suffer today?
4. AIMA has no strategy to improve the system. People there are demotivated, burned out, underpaid, and desperate.
How Portugal, the country that calls itself the best country for Digital Nomads, highly qualified human resources, and business relocation, can not see the huge elephant in the room?
That’s so embarrassing.
